Brenda Stewart, LMHC:
Providing a Safe Space for the Woman Who Holds It All Together.
You are the dependable one, the high-achiever, the one everyone counts on—but inside, you're exhausted by self-doubt and overthinking. I help sensitive women in Florida and South Carolina break free from trauma, anxiety, and disordered eating through clinical EMDR and faith-integrated therapy.
You are more than your "put-together" exterior.
On the outside, you’re handling everything. But internally, the noise of self-criticism and the pressure to be perfect is deafening. Whether you are navigating a history of trauma, struggling with your relationship with food, or dealing with the emotional toll of chronic illness (CIRS), I am here to help you move from simply surviving to actually thriving.
You…
Are plagued with feelings of self-doubt
Feel like you can’t catch a break
Find yourself in the same kinds of relationships over and over
Count calories or restrict food intake, especially when anxious or sad
Feel the need to be in control
Struggle with feeling not good enough
You do not have to live this way!
I want you to know that true healing & recovery is possible. You can break free from the chains that hold you captive—whether it’s trauma, anxiety, or eating disorder behaviors. You deserve to be free and live according to who you are created to be.
What it’s like to work with me
I believe connection is key to healing. It is my desire to create an environment that is calm and inviting and a relationship where you feel safe, seen, and understood.
Through therapy, you will:
Learn effective ways to reduce unwanted behavior
Know how to balance and navigate your emotions
Identify the events in your life story that shaped you and play a role in the struggles you currently face.
Shift any negative beliefs you have about yourself, others, and relationships
Heal your nervous system
Find a sense of belonging and see your sensitivities as a strength
I believe in a whole-person approach to therapy, so will address the mind, body, and soul connection using modalities like EMDR. It’s possible to live authentically, rediscover your strengths, experience peace, and know your true worth…and I’d love to partner with you on the journey to get there.
My goal is to help you identify and acknowledge the strength and resilience that is already inside of you.
Therapy that’s tailored to you
I specialize in working with adolescent & adult women who are ready to break cycles of self-doubt and embrace who they were created to be.
My extensive training in the areas of anxiety, trauma, and eating disorders, along with my specializations in Christian Counseling and EMDR, allows me to put together a customized plan to help you reach your goals and ultimately thrive. You are a unique individual and the approach I use in sessions will be tailored to you and the goals you want to achieve.
Through our work together, you will be able to share your story in the presence of a safe and trustworthy therapist. Many people say this helps you feel less isolated and alone. I will assist you in challenging your internal messages, help you learn effective coping skills, and through EMDR therapy, guide you through processing the painful memories that keep you from reaching your goals and living a life of freedom.

-
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a form of therapy that focuses on healing traumatic or painful memories that are stored in the brain. EMDR identifies the “stuck” places in the brain and body and through bilateral stimulation (eye movements or tapping) assists in resolving the memories so that the past does not continue to impact your present.
-
Narrative therapy looks at the events in your life and how the story that forms impacts you currently. It assists in healing painful or challenging moments and allows you to discover your dreams, values, goals, and hope for the future. We look at your story through an attachment based lens, the dynamics of early relationships in life and how that impacts your sense of safety and security in life and in relationships today.
-
As Christian counselors, we are happy to bring this into session for those who desire it. While we as therapists are Christians, we do not place judgment on any one who differs in their beliefs and welcome clients from all backgrounds.

What’s in a name?
Why Wellspring?
Wellspring means “a bountiful source, one that never runs dry.” Our name stems from a story in the Bible of “the woman at the well.” A woman, who was drawing water at the well, who we know was hurting, had been involved in unhealthy relationships and was ostracized by her community, met Jesus. Her wounds isolated her from other people, but they did not bother Jesus. He offered her “living water”, abundant Life, A wellspring.
She connected with Jesus who showed her compassion and offered a safe connection to someone who saw her as innately valuable despite her past.
She then went back to her town, took the risk, and had the courage to share with others and her life was forever changed.
At Wellspring Therapy Associates, you will experience connection, courage, and change when you step into the counseling room with one of our therapists. We want to be a life-giving source of care and support for you on your journey.
Connection. Courage. Change.
FAQs
What are your credentials and specializations?
1
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Florida and South Carolina. I am highly trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), which is a gold-standard treatment for trauma. Additionally, I specialize in Christian Counseling, Eating Disorder recovery (HAES-informed), and the emotional management of Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS).
Do I have to incorporate my faith into our sessions?
2
While I am a Christian and love to integrate Biblical truth for clients who desire it, your therapy is tailored entirely to you. I work with women from all backgrounds and spiritual walks. We will always move at your pace and honor your specific values and comfort level.
What makes your approach to Eating Disorders different?
3
I combine clinical expertise with a compassionate, whole-person approach. We don’t just look at behavior; we look at the "why" behind the patterns—often addressing underlying trauma or nervous system dysregulation. My goal is to help you find true freedom from food rules and body shame.
Why do you specialize in CIRS Recovery?
4
Chronic illness like CIRS (Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome) is deeply isolating and takes a massive toll on the nervous system. I help women navigate the "medical trauma" and emotional exhaustion that comes with chronic illness, providing tools to help you feel grounded and resilient in your body again.
Where do you see clients?
5
In therapy, the relationship is the most important factor for success. I offer a free 15-minute consultation specifically so we can talk through your goals and see if my style feels safe and supportive to you. You deserve a therapist who truly "gets" the unique pressures you face.
How do I know if we are the right "fit"?
6
I offer secure, online therapy throughout the entire states of Florida and South Carolina. This allows high-achieving women to access specialized trauma care from the privacy and convenience of their own homes or offices, fitting healing into a busy lifestyle.
